Career Inspiration
Many years ago I was living in the Rogue Valley and pursuing a bachelors of science in psychology. After graduating with honors, I was entertaining continuing on to get my masters in counseling, since I’ve always had a passion for helping others and am highly interested in learning more about human behavior. But, as life would have it, a different opportunity presented itself and I happily changed my direction. I ended up moving to the beautiful Oregon coast, where I fell in love with the slower pace of life, people, and the natural beauty. Though, finding a job with my degree on the rural Oregon coast, that also aligned with my vision for life, did not prove to be promising. After some time visualizing what I wanted to do next, a once in a lifetime opportunity presented itself. That opportunity was to move to Jackson Hole, WY. Living in Jackson is something I will hands down, never forget. I worked for two amazing companies and got to experience the most incredible outdoor adventures. Insert: snowshoeing to Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park and seeing a huge wolf, snowy drives out to the snake river, fat biking in negative temps to the most amazing crystal clear hot springs surrounded by the forrest, which could only be accessed by dog sleds or biking many many miles (no one else was biking, but that makes it even more unforgettable for me), and of course skiing in the best powder I have ever experienced in my life at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Grand Targhee Ski Resort. I could go on and on … but you get the point, it was a life changing and memorable time in my life. Maybe I will do a blog post on the little mountain town of Jackson and all of my favorite places there at some point!
While working, living, and playing in Jackson, I kept finding myself inspired. Inspired by lifestyle choices, inspired creatively, and inspired by the local real estate brokers. More often than not, it was real estate agents that I was sharing a gondola ride with on a weekday afternoon. Getting laps in before their next showing or listing apts etc. These folks kept crossing paths with me, a few individuals in particular, and I thought … wow, successful real estate brokers in this area make time for work and play and they make “play” part of their community outreach. Sure, they were skiing, but on the ride up they were letting others know what they do for a living and making a personal connection that could lead to more in the future. I found the lifestyle I was witnessing inspiring and decided to start my real estate schooling as soon as possible. By the time I got back to Oregon, I was a fully licensed Oregon real estate broker.
Fortunately, real estate has been a wonderful fit for my personality, work ethic, and life vision. In my first year, I honestly blew myself away. I didn’t realize at first how much I would love it and how well I would thrive. From the start, forming genuine relationships with others has come easy to me. I get to connect one on one with people, help others with one of the biggest decisions of their life, and a be a loyal, caring, organized confidant throughout the entire process. Real estate is a great career for me - as it meshes psychology/human connection with sales, organization, leadership, and helping others achieve goals. I am in this industry because of the flexibility it allows for and the connections and community relationships that I get to foster throughout the process. It really has been a joy in my life, to help and get to know all of the wonderful clients who have crossed my path.
